McMurdo PLB aids rescue of lone British sailor
A yachtsman was rescued on 4th January after activating his McMurdo FastFind Plus GPS Personal Location Beacon off the coast of Africa when his yacht got into difficulties in severe storms. The 1929 gaff rig cutter Mina was extensively damaged by waves leaving the yacht stranded.

James Baker’s rescue – the importance of an EPIRB
James Baker was a young lad, sailing on a shoe string with no engine. Yet he was an extremely experienced sailor and he and his family had no doubt about his capabilities. James was reluctant to carry an EPIRB or PLB on board: he could not imagine having to put so many people to such trouble if they had to come and rescue him.

McMurdo’s India distributor wins contract.
McMurdo are delighted that SHM shipcare of India has been awarded a contract by the Shipping Compay of India to supply 200 ships with McMurdo’s smartfind EPIRBs. The contract also includes servicing.

New Operations Manager for McMurdo
Mark Routledge is the newest face at McMurdo as he joins the company as Operations Manager. Mark will manage the manufacturing and supply chain within the company’s expanding factory environment, working closely with key suppliers.

Scottish Outdoor Exhibition boosts interest in UK PLB land use
Outdoor organizations such as the Scottish Mountain Rescue Committee showed great interest in McMurdo’s Personal Locator beacons at Glasgow's Leisure and Outdoor Show early this month.
